Remarks: The suspect was described as being clean-shaven and well-groomed. He wore a black watch with a square face on his right wrist and possibly spoke with a "local" accent. He had a band-aid on his left hand, and his left hand had blood on it at the time.

THE DETAILS SURROUNDING THE CRIME

On the morning of January 6, 2009, the female owner of a nail salon in Cranston, Rhode Island, was at her place of business when a White male wearing a ski-type mask and gloves entered the business through the rear door. The suspect forced the victim to the ground and put a wet cloth over her nose and mouth which caused her to lose consciousness. The victim awoke in a van or minivan being driven by the suspect. A large plastic storage-type container with a lid was in the vehicle. While the vehicle was moving, the victim attempted to alert others of her predicament, but was stopped by the suspect.

Approximately two hours after the kidnapping occurred, the suspect pulled into a parking garage in Braintree, Massachusetts, drove to the top level of the garage, and told the victim to get out of the vehicle. The suspect then left.

The individual is described as a White male, approximately 210 to 250 pounds, with curly brown hair. The current whereabouts of this individual are unknown.

CAUTION: Michael Joseph Chavez is wanted on multiple counts of sexual molestation for the abuse of two minor female relatives in California. Chavez is alleged to have assaulted the girls while they were between the ages of eight and ten. After Chavez determined that he was under investigation by the Sacramento County Sheriffs Office, he fled Sacramento County. After a local arrest warrant was issued and Chavez was charged with sexual assault of a minor, a federal arrest warrant was obtained for Chavez in the United States District Court, Eastern District of California, Sacramento, California, on April 2, 2008, and he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Brovold is alleged to have communicated with the victim mostly via Internet for approximately six months. Then, in July of 2000, Brovold allegedly flew to Moorhead, Minnesota, met the teenage victim, and engaged in sex acts with her at a local hotel.

Brovold was arrested on July 11, 2000, and released on bond. However, Brovold did not appear for his court hearing which was scheduled for September 18, 2000, in Clay County, Minnesota. That same day, a state arrest warrant was issued in the State of Minnesota, Seventh Judicial District, after Brovold was charged with criminal sexual conduct. Brovold was charged subsequently with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution and a federal arrest warrant was issued by the United States District Court, State and District of Minnesota.

Copp was charged in a 126-count criminal complaint and capias by the 12th Judicial Circuit Court, State of Florida, for obscene material possession-possessing a photograph of the sexual performance by a child (child pornography) in violation of Florida State statute. Copp was scheduled to appear for a court proceeding on February 2, 2006, in Sarasota County, Florida, however, he failed to appear. He also was scheduled to appear for his trial on February 6, 2006, at the Circuit Court, Sarasota, Florida, however, he failed to appear again. On February 7, 2006, a state warrant was issued for his arrest.

In addition, a federal arrest warrant was issued on February 24, 2006, by the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division, after Copp was charged federally with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

CAUTION
In 2003, Thomas Emil Sliwinski was charged with criminal endangerment for having sex without consent with his young stepdaughter. On a quiet neighborhood street in Fort Collins, Colo., young chess players would flock to the home of chess master Robert Snyder, an icon in the chess world who ran a popular -- and lucrative -- camp for aspiring players.....But according to Colorado cops, the children he taught were merely pawns in his own sick game.....“Robert Snyder posed as this great person who was mentoring these children and making them feel inspired on a lot of different levels,” says AMW's Michelle Sigona, who worked on the story. “He was able to keep that front going for a while.”....Police say parents were shocked when a child came home from a “Chess Warrior Weekend,” a sleep-over event at Snyder's home, and said that Snyder had molested him.....Later that summer, another student of Snyder’s revealed in a therapy session that he had also been molested.....“As a parent, you should be doing background checks and checking the references of an adult you’re allowing to be around your child,” Michelle said. “Unfortunately, Robert Snyder slipped through the cracks.”....Before the allegations, Snyder seemed have a stellar reputation. Not only did was he a published author of several chess strategy books, he also trained famous actors like Will Smith and Nicholas Cage in the art of the game.....“I believe his passion for chess, combined with his attraction to children, is what motivated him to be ultra-successful,” Michelle said.....For the story, Michelle interviewed one of the children Snyder abused and both boys' parents. In most situations, AMW will not reveal the identity of abuse survivors or their family members, so those interviews were conducted in silhouette to protect their identities.....“When something like this is released to the public, people tend to look at others differently,” Michelle said.....Although Snyder was arrested in 2005, he was released in 2008 and failed to meet with his probation officer or register as a sex offender. Normal Day Turns Into Mother's Worst Nightmare

On March 11, 2008 Sandra Lopez dropped off her 2-year-old daughter, Alexia Lopez, at Berny Mayel Figueroa's house. That same night, little Alexia died at a Texas hospital.

........With three young kids, a hard-working husband and a job of her own, Sandra Lopez was doing what mothers all across the country do on a daily basis: juggling a busy life while trying to balance work and family.

....For Sandra, March 11, 2008 started early in the morning in Brenham, Texas, just like any other day. She took her 5-year-old son to Pre-K; she dropped off her 4-year-old daughter with long-time family friend Berny Mayel Figueroa; and rushed to enroll her 2-year-old daughter Alexia in a Head Start program.

....Before going to work, Sandra took Alexia back to Figueroa, a trusted friend who had been helping Sandra out with the girls for about four months.

When Sandra came back to get her daughters around 5:00 p.m., she noticed that little Alexia was having trouble breathing. Figueroa told her Alexia hadn't been feeling well and was throwing up.....Sandra got worried because Alexia suffered from asthma, so she went home to provide medical care, but she didn't improve.
....Sandra rushed Alexia to the hospital.
........But she told AMW that there was one thing that made her focus her emotions into action: watching America's Most Wanted...

Daycare Horror

Cops say Figueroa punched 2-year-old Alexia Lopez so hard in the stomach that she died from blunt force trauma.
........Sandra took Alexia to the emergency room, where the doctors delivered tragic news: Alexia had died. But even worse, cops say the death was no accident -- and that Alexia had been murdered.....The doctors determined Alexia had been punched so hard in the stomach that her large and small intestines had separated.
....Cops assigned to the investigation were able to clear Sandra and her husband Manuel, turning their suspicions to the babysitter, Figueroa, who had spent most of the day with Alexia before she died.
....Brenham P.D. detective Lloyd Powell, who has investigated the case from the very beginning, brought Figueroa in for interrogation. After hours of questioning, he and several other detectives concluded that Figueroa was lying to them.
....On March 20, 2008 Children's Protective Services intervened. They asked Figueroa to leave her home, where she ran her daycare business.

From "Missing Person" To Fugitive....
Cops say Figueroa then moved, with the help of her brother, to a nearby motel. But she wouldn't stay long. The following day, as cops were getting ready to charge Berny Figueroa with the killing, Sgt. Otto Hanak, with the Texas Rangers, got a call from Figueroa's brother. Her brother told Sgt. Hanak he wanted to report Figueroa as a missing person since he couldn't find her at the hotel.
....Sgt. Hanak went to the motel to look for Figueroa. Figueroa's motel room revealed the very picture of a hasty escape: unmade beds, carryout food boxes, and even Figueroa's clothes and other personal items.

Sgt. Hanak also found a note, written in Spanish, in which she said she was leaving because she couldn't stand the pressure. What Hanak didn't see was Figueroa's purse or personal documents.....Cops immediately charged Figueroa with Capital Murder, but had no idea where she was.......

Cops have charged Figueroa with Capital Murder for the death of Alexia Lopez. Figueroa speaks Spanish with a heavy Honduran accent and doesn't know how to drive. ........Figueroa's escape was not only bad news for Det. Powell, but it also took a huge toll on Sandra's family.....With the main suspect in their daughter's murder gone, Sandra was left with only questions. Why would Figueroa want to hurt Alexia?...."This was a friend of the family, a person I would do favors for," Sandra told AMW.....But Manuel Lopez, Sandras' husband and Alexia's loving dad, took the news the hardest. Sandra says Manuel became extremely depressed and angry, and had a hard time dealing with his feelings.....Finally, Manuel's anger exploded right in front of Sandra's eyes.....Cops say Manuel was driving erratically and was pulled over by a police officer. Manuel had a verbal altercation with the officer, cops have alleged, then jumped back in his car and fled. The police officer chased after him, and was soon joined by other patrol cars.....As Sandra returned to work after lunch with a friend, she came upon what she called a surreal scene: her husband's truck was being chased by about five police cars....."The first thing I did was called Detective Powell," Sandra said.....Det. Powell was able to get on the radio and make other officers aware that the man they were chasing a grieving father.....Since Manuel wasn't stopping, officers with the Texas Highway Patrol drew their weapons and shot out Manuel's tires; his truck was disabled, and he was taken into custody.....Det. Powell was able to see him while he was in jail, and Powell says that Manuel was able to get through this difficult episode.

The Turning Point....
Every day is a struggle for Sandra, who is doing everything she can to keep her family together.....But she told AMW that there was one thing that made her focus her emotions into action: watching America's Most Wanted.....It was a Saturday night when Sandra watched John Walsh tell the story of Iriana DeJesus, a little girl who had been raped and murdered in Philadelphia.....It was also the story of how Iriana's mother, Mota, had come to celebrate Iriana's life each year on the anniversary of her death.....Sandra says that seeing Mota honor her daughter's memory -- and keeping her case alive -- was the inspiration she needed to do the same thing....."Just to see the mother, I felt what she was going through," Sandra said. "I knew what she was going through, and it was that day that I said, 'I'm gonna fight, I'm gonna do what I have to do.'"....With Manuel's full support, Sandra has traveled to the Texas border towns of McAllen and Laredo to see if she can find Berny Figueroa, who cops believe may have crossed over into Mexico.....Sandra has also written to her congressman and the governor of Texas, asking for help. She continues to work with the local media, she says, to share her story.....Accused Child Killer On The Run....More than a year since cops say Figueroa beat Alexia to death, they need your help to find her more than ever.....Cops say Figueroa may have cut and dyed her hair blonde to disguise herself. They also believe that someone may be bankrolling her flight from justice, because Figueroa doesn't speak any English, doesn't know how to drive, and has no money.....Figueroa is originally from Honduras, but has lived in the United States legally for several years. Terral had worked as a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Cops hope he goes back into the prison system in another capacity. When three children were in need of someone to take care of them, their mother grudgingly turned them over to her father, William Terral, Jr. He seemed like a good choice. He was already close to the family; he had a good job in law enforcement; and he appeared to have a good head on his shoulders. It's too bad that looks can be deceiving.

..Cops say that over a five-month period, Terral took disgusting liberties with the three girls, aged 9, 10, and 11. Cops say Terral showed the girls child pornography, and then took it to the next step. If they wanted to go swimming, authorities say he forced them to commit sex acts with him. They want to do something else, another act. When the children bravely came forward, Terral hit the road and the kids were spared Terral's disgusting alleged antics. It was also clear why their mother didn't like the scenario from the beginning: she claimed that she, too, had been a victim of Terral's sexual exploits when she was 12 years old, even though charges were never filed in that matter. In the past, cops say Terral has commented that he wanted to sail to Guatemala and marry a 13-year-old girl. ..

Unstable And On The Run

Alleged claims and threats by Terral have put cops on high alert.

......When Terral hit the road, the United States Marshals Service joined the manhunt, digging into Terral's background. In talking to his family, a consistent and disturbing storyline emerged.....Family members told Deputy Marshals that Terral had often commented that if confronted by law enforcement, he would take a life, either the unknowing officer's or his own.....Because it is believed that Terral has two guns with him, there's no reason to disbelieve him.....Also, according to another family member, Terral is known to keep a piece of paper in his pocket with a list of phone numbers. Those are believed to be family member's numbers.....The thought is when his body is eventually found, cops will know who to call. Clearly, the race is on to find William Terral.......

When a fugitive has the desire to leave the country, finding him becomes a much more dire proposition.

......In the past, cops say Terral has commented that he wanted to sail to Guatemala and marry a 13-year-old girl.....Cops know he owns 29-foot sailboat, named "Esparanza," so he has the wherewithal to put that plan into motion.....If not on the sea, cops say Terral is an avid outdoorsman, known to stay in campgrounds, and could be living out a camper or even a pick-up truck.......
